👥 Who We Are
We’re a growing group of neighbors, workers, veterans, organizers, and friends from across the Hampton Roads Peninsula—places like Fox Hill, Fort Eustis, Grandview Island, Newport News, and beyond.
Some of us have known each other since grassroots campaigns back in 2016. Others are just now meeting over coffee and shared concern for where our communities are headed. We come from different backgrounds—union organizers, social workers, technologists, and citizens who’ve decided that staying silent isn’t an option anymore.
🧠Why We’re Here
One member put it best: “I’ve got enough to live comfortably—but what kind of life is that, really?”
That feeling—of wanting something more than quiet survival—is what brought us together. The current state of politics and party leadership doesn’t reflect what we care about. We’re not waiting on them to fix it. We’re building something real, from the ground up.
📍 The Spark: Buckroe Beach Coffee
Our first gathering happened this Memorial Day Sunday at Buckroe Beach Coffee—a space we’re hoping will stay open and welcoming to our discussions, organizing, and community-building. It was informal. No bylaws. No big speeches. Just people sitting down to ask:
What kind of ancestor do you want to be?
(Shout out to the comrade who brought that framing—powerful stuff.)
🏚 What’s at Stake: Homelessness and Criminalization
Right now, the City of Hampton is proposing an ordinance that would criminalize homelessness. In a city with a high number of veterans, working-class families, and people already struggling to survive—that’s not just wrong. It’s cruel.
We’re starting by organizing around this issue. It’s urgent, it’s local, and it affects real people every day. You can read more about it in our next post: Hampton’s Anti-Homelessness Ordinance: What You Need to Know.
🌱 What’s Next
We’re starting small. A website. A Signal group (private for now, to keep things sane). A place to talk, gather, and figure out what kind of mutual aid we can offer each other—material and emotional.
We’re meeting Sundays at noon, out back at Buckroe Beach Coffee. Come by. Bring ideas. Bring friends. We’ve got a 10-year vision in our heads and dirt under our nails. And maybe a few jokes about brutalist architecture.
📬 Stay in Touch

This is the first step. There’s more coming. We’re glad you found us.
